Les Egouts de Paris

What better to do on a beautiful sunny day than to go underground and visit the Sewers of Paris?

Oh yes, they did! They turned a very small part of their sewage system into a museum. Believe it or not, it was quite entertaining to go visit. And yes, it does SMELL!

After visiting the Louvre and d'Orsay and seeing billions of churches, it is actually refreshing to go see something like this. Believe me, there comes a point where you get tired of seeing people's depictions of Christ on a cross.

This is a drudging machine that removes a lot of the debris from the sewers (otherwise it would get clogged up and possibly overflow into the streets and river.

The trip was made complete when we saw used condoms floating down the stream.

If you will, give this complex system a moment of your thoughts... this is an extremely important aspect to our quality of life. They gave a very detailed history of how the system came to be and how with growing populations the importance of this grows stronger...

And of course, after spending an afternoon in the sewer, its rather appropriate to go out for a drink afterwords.

The Metro of Paris

People still manage to jump those things sometimes. It's quite impressive to watch, as if watching a contortionist slip through something in one fluid motion.

Sure they could switch to digital screens, but it wouldn't be nearly as fun. These displays make such an awesome sound whenever they are changing. Every time I stop and stare whenever the sign updates. Just one of those things you have to be there for... I suppose. Maybe I'm just a dork.

Just about the thing that makes some noise..
They started changing the small one.. I was angry...
I like those loud things too.. at least, you knew when to look at it!
Let's blame Samsung for making cheap screens for our train-stations!!!
